Science of Persuasion via social media
May 2, 2008 on 10:18 pm | In Social Media, Web2.0, Telezent | No CommentsMore and more apps are going online - and the internet is becoming a computing platform. The success of Web2.0 companies
depends on mass adoption. Here marketing dollars do not equal success. Social networks are the key here.
Success = Mass Adoption. Mass adoption is fueled by people. People pursuading others to register (or try a particular service) becomes
it brings them some value (social value or monetary value/ could be tangible or intangible/could be for entertainment).
So Dr BJ Fogg of Standford University has created a course on Creating engaging apps in Facebook. They want to understand how motivation and influence operate on Facebook. The results could be extrapolated to other web2.0 apps as well.
in fact Dr BJ Fogg has written a paper on “Behaviour chain of online participation“. Quite interesting.

Social Media Intelligence
April 25, 2008 on 9:32 pm | In Social Media | No CommentsThough some bloggers are authority in their respective domain - I think over 50% of the intelligence lies in the Comments and Trackbacks of the post. So ofcourse th blogger does a great job of introducing a topic with his expertise - then the collective intelligence takes over and gives shape and form.
So the blogger is putting the seed - and the watering, air and sun like atrributes are given by the people. But following the comments on a post is difficult - they keep coming months after the post was originally written. I would like to call the people contributions ( comments, trackbacks) as the actual Social Media Intelligence. This could apply to other social sites as well.
Co.mments lets you follow comments on a post you are interested in. That is actually harnessing social media intelligence. Some commenter - 3 months after post was written might give you the information you where actually looking for.
Here at Telezent we have a social media enthusiast team and are creating a course on Social Media for our clients.
