Internet TV Enables Fragmented Broadcasting
January 4, 2007 on 12:00 pm | In Online Video, Internet TV, Online platform |Independent production companies around the world that have been creating, packaging and selling their shows to TV networks are witnessing how firms like Brightcove, Revver and Blip.Tv have created video delivery , management and distribution platforms to enable anyone to create their own Internet TV Channels and are saying “Wait a minute we can do this ourselves”. New internet only content producers are also producing content for niche audience and creating their own “Internet TV” channels. Below I list some of the many Internet TV Channels
- Los Angeles-based RipeTV has 11 advertising-supported, short-program shows cater to young males who want to watch sports, music and bikini-clad women.
- ManiaTV, is developing a show with Jason “Wee Man'’ Acuna, best known for his work in “Jackass: The Movie'’ and “Jackass: Number Two.'’ ManiaTV also features user-generated content.
- Revision3 in San Francisco is a internet television network, produces its own content and has several shows that include a science show and a cooking show for people who don’t cook. Its founders also run the news aggregation site Digg
- LX.TV is built around the interests of affluent young people living in New York and Los Angeles . LX.TV produce original content exploring everything from the hottest nightlife and spas to swank stores in New York and Los Angeles .
- Turner Broadcasting also plans to launch a new advertising-supported internet TV channel in called Super Deluxe, it will feature original Web-specific stand-up and sketch comedy by veteran performers and unknown talent.
If audiences do not disappoint we will see this trend catch fire with a explosion of internet TV channels.
