Real Ads in Virtual Worlds
January 20, 2007 on 10:17 pm | In Online Video, Advertising |WSJ today is reporting that Google is in talks to acquire Adscape Media, Inc - a company whose technology allows for the streaming delivery of ads over the internet into the virtual world - video games. Now that XBox 360 and Playstation have connectivity to the internet - Google wants to leave no medium where it cannot place online video ads.
With fibre optic connectivity coming to homes in US (like Verizon FIOS) - users will be able to play 2D and 3D video games - interactive console-like games on TV over the internet. The virtual world of video games is going to be a huge market to place ad and Google is moving in that direction.
