TV reporter + Video photographer + Producer= Videographer
January 12, 2007 on 8:46 am | In Online Video |The Web is a serial killer - and now it is TV and media which is getting killed. An interesting article in Washington Post says that many newspapers, including The Post, are training their reporters to shoot video with their stories. Reporters also are carrying video cameras and shoot video to accompany their articles when they appear on their newspaper’s Web site.
News event to be shown on TV traditionally required a TV reporter + Video photographer + Producer for a 3-5 minute news feed. Boom - that is now becoming obsolete - reporters will now multitask - and in a cost effective wat deliver the news feed via online video. An array of professions associated with TV news reporting will also become commoditized.
This is also putting a strain on newpaper-TV relationship. For e.x CNBC calls experts from WSJ are called for interview, feedback, commentary, news events - now with online video WSJ reporters can do everything CNBC does by themselves i.e report and broadcast - that is wicked.
